In anticipation of the holiday onslaught of new brightly-colored plastic toys adding to our collection of old brightly-colored plastic toys, I’m thinking about packing away all of my son’s toys. Or at least 90% of them.
I think it will be an interesting experiment to see if:
a) They ‘ll notice
b) They’ll mind
c) If they find new uses for old toys
d) If they’ll make toys out of other objects (i.e. wooden spoons)
Stay tuned for the before and after.
In the meantime, tell me, have you ever done a major toy cleansing? What were the results?
Hey Britta! We just did our toy cleanse! It had a TOTALLY opposite effect than I thought! The kids were so excited that we over-gave! They were in a “give_give_give” mood! Never cease to be amazed by kids!! Good luck – can’t wait to hear how it went!
P.S. Don’t give away too much – I’m nervous now…WTH??!! How am I going to occupy their time now..?
You mean business! I was just going to hide the toys in the basement before banishing them altogether.
Meanwhile, I LOVE the Rolobox you wrote about http://hoolaboola.com/2010/10/29/reduce-reuse-recycle/
We can build quite a train with all our Diapers.com boxes — empty trains, that is.
I can’t even pack away one baby rattle without Rose noticing. It’s terrible.
