Toddler tricks

This is a guest post is from my good friend Nina, a superbly talented artist, graphic designer, cake baker, and mom.

Starry Starry Night Play Doh

You know all that yucky, mixed together, stiff Play Doh you have? Give it new life with this simple, sparly hack.

1. Find some old, grey Play Doh.

2. If it’s dry, add a bit of vegetable oil to make it a bit smoother but not so much that it’s greasy, just enough to make it pliable and elastic again.

3. Add a black food coloring a little at a time until the dough is black or night-sky blue. Wilton professional grade icing coloring (or equivalent) is best, but you can also combine red, green and blue food coloring that comes in a four-pack from the grocery store.

4. Add glitter.

Wow!

These littles kept busy for quite some time practicing their transferring skills.

So long, in fact, that I didn’t even mind the floor mess that was eventually (inevitably) created.

For each child, you’ll want:

Dried beans
2 bowls
Tongs
Scoopers of various sizes

Bonus points for containing it all with cute serving trays.
